Bought IT today and I couldn't be happier! :)

Here comes the bride....

Went dress shopping on Saturday and found IT. They say that when you put the one on, you'll know. I always thought that was silly, but I experienced it on Saturday. I've liked a ton of dresses but they all started to blend together after awhile. I put this one on and fell in love instantly. I love how it looks, how it feels, and how it makes me feel. I feel beautiful, I feel like a princess.
I don't think it's what everyone will be expecting, nor what I expected. It's beautiful though! I tried on a few more like-styles but just couldn't match it. It's wonderful and expensive and I couldn't be happier.
I wish I wasn't so materialistic about a dress I will only wear once, but I truly LOVE it!

bad friends and pink roses

So, today was a really really crappy day. I considered firing my maid of honor, cried a lot, and sat at home with cramps for the entire day.
My best friend (maid of honor) is here for the weekend from Missouri. Well, she's with her parents which are an hour away from me. We've been planning a shopping trip for when she got here... mostly neccesary bridesmaid shopping but mostly just fun since I never get to see her. She called me and told me she didn't feel like coming up here and "maybe I could go there". She also said she was going tubing so wasn't going to come dress shopping on Saturday. Other details discluded, I ended up feeling like my best friend can't even spare 1/2 of a day for me, and my maid of honor can't spare a day to go wedding dress shopping with me. AGH! I also had plans for tomorrow night with another friend, which I've been planning my whole weekend around, including Tony whom I haven't seen much lately anyways. She called and cancelled on me.

One of my other bridesmaids called (who is acting much more like a best friend), she's going through a whole lot of crap right now so I was trying to find out how she's doing and my whole story came out about my day.
Welp, long day shortened, she called me a few minutes ago and told me to go outside and "look down". I did, and there was a pink rose there :) I LOVE pink roses... she told me "you're the best and I'm sorry you had a bad day". She's also an hour away, dealing with all the stuff she has to deal with right now, but called a friend down here and had them deliver it to me. She's sooo great and it was so needed and appreciated.

I don't feel like I'm being selfish, asking my maid of honor to do 1/2 a day of shopping with me, and inviting her to go dress shopping with me. Wouldn't you want to go wedding dress shopping with your best friend? It's the only time in my life that I will be doing this! It doesn't matter that much, my mom knows me the best and is the best and I have no problem having just her there, but it just feels like I'm not important at all to her, even during this season of planning my only wedding. This isn't how I envisioned it all. I always knew she would be my maid of honor but unfortunely I'm regretting that decision right now. Am I being selfish? Someone slap me if I am.
Anyways, God remains faithful and yay for wonderful, thoughtful friends and roses!!!!!!

God be present

Tony's best friend is here visiting (from CA) and we're getting plenty of snow for him!!

I came home tonight to some sad news. My roommates fiance (remember the post about all the boys going to Iraq?) was hit by a roadside bomb either yesterday or today. He got some shrap metal in his eye (s?). They're flying him to Germany for treatment. He could end up partially blind and he could end up just fine. (Oh, and his partner also broke his leg in the blast). If he's permanently hurt, he should get to come home. If not, they'll send him right back out. I heard second hand from our other roommate. She says that J is doing fine, but I wouldn't be! I haven't seen her, so I don't know how she really is, but I would be a wreck. Regardless of my opinions- they're engaged, and he's a wonderful person. PLEASE PLEASE pray for his healing. Even though coming home early sounds good, the reason isn't. I'll be praying for a full recovery even if it means going back. Maybe that isn't His will, but please include Rocky in your prayers.

Happy Patrick's Day!

In Ireland, they don't call it St. Patrick's Day, it's simply 'Patrick's Day'.

They don't wear green on patrick's day, and they think it's silly that we do.

The Pat's day parade in Dublin is easily THE best parade I've been to.

In Ireland, Patrick's day is celebrated kind of like Independence day is in America. No fireworks, but they have a huge parade, everyone dresses in Ireland gear, and everyone hangs and wags their Irish flags. It's also one big giant country-wide party.

And guiness really is as popular there as we think it is.

dummy

In denver, there's a carpool lane on the highway (called HOV). It's for 2 passengers and up, only. Today a guy was stopped that was driving by himself with a blow up doll in his passenger seat. He wasn't ticketed or anything-- instead, was made to carry a sign for the rest of the day on the highway that said "the HOV is not for dummys". He's also forced to sell his blow up doll and donate the profits. funny

do you like to botend?

Today was a good day at work. I was sick and didn't feel like being there, plus the morning was super chaotic. However, the day flew by. 9 hours felt more like 4! It seemed like it went from 11-3 just like that, and then 4-6 in a flash. I was about to leave when we suddenly had a crisis with one of my favorite babies. He's 8 months, so cute, and has a thing for me for some reason. He was crying and they were understaffed so i picked him up to calm him down before I left. Debbie says "wait, watch out... eww look at your arm". I had this nasty yellow stuff on my arm, which didn't take long to realize it was all over his pants. I changed his diaper and it was THE WORST diaper I've ever changed. Funny colored poop, all over, filled the diaper and then some! (His pants, my arm, etc). It was also a little on his onesie. I've been unable to smell poopy diapers for the past 4 weeks due to perpetuall sickness. Let me tell you, this diaper was RANK. For not being able to smell, I sure smelled that! And I still am! Well, we paged his mom and then I fed him a bottle. And then we paged his mom again. When I left, after an extra hour, she still hadn't come. AGH, moms! AGH. I would hate to be a baby with poo on my clothes and my mom not coming! Anyways, sounds bad, but it was actually a really good day.

lazy sunday

Why is it so cold? If it's going to be cold, I want a blizzard! And a man to wrap his arms around me while drinking some hot cocoa. I can always dream, right?

Yesterday we found the perfect apartment. Seriously, we walked in and both thought "I'm home! This is the one" I didn't know he was thinking that until we got back to the car and we talked about it. It was incredible. 2 bed, 2 bath. We've been looking for a 2 bed place because we really like the idea of having a room for guests. Our family or friends when they come to visit, won't have to sleep on the futon in the living room. Plus we have 4 beds and 2 dresser sets, so might as well make use of at least one of them. It has a brick wood-burning fireplace, a great open kitchen, washer and dryer hookups, an oval bathtub in the master bath and great closet space. You feel like you're in a house, it's not apartmenty at all. It's also in the area we wanted to live. Unfortunetly, it's a little over $100 over our budget. He's determined to find a way to make it work, but I'm not so sure. They also have a 1 bed with a loft floorplan. It's nice too, but not near as nice. It's in our budget, but we lose the second bedroom and a few other things. We'll keep thinking and praying, but if a bunch of money is dumped on us, we'll be right on the 2 bed 2 bath! Anyone feel like donating to the cause?

it is butterflies?

I had my dress all picked out, and the accessories to go with it... Just hadn't bought it yet. Now I'm starting to have second thoughts (not about the boy, just about the dress...)

yay friends

Last night we found out that Tony's best man is coming to visit us! He lives in LA and hasn't ever been here. Hasn't seen snow either, so I'm really hoping for snow in 2 weeks!!!

Today it was well over 70 degrees- such a great day! Tomorrow however, the high is going to be 34. From 70 to 34 in one day!! Crazy state.

Good morning glory

On friday's my work starts at 8:45-- This morning I woke up, looked at my watch and it said 8:50. I of course jumped out of bed and was quite grumpy that I woke up so late (my alarm was going off and it didn't phase me one bit). I was trying to decide what to tell my boss as I was throwing on my uniform. Then I walked over to where my clock radio is and saw that it was only 7:55. What joy! I think that's an even better feeling than waking up early and learning you still have time to sleep. I was able to eat breakfast, drink my cappacino and still be at work early! What a good day! It's about to get even better because I'm on my way to see my fiance for the weekend! yay!

Mmmm flowers

I'm loving life again.. yay! I feel like I'm myself again, and I'm so grateful for it. I'm becoming more and more convinced that I made the right decision in dropping my classes. What a blessing to be happy again!!

Earlier today, 'Amelia' was the most popular outgoing link on Vanessa's blog. Tonight, it's changed to 'Leslie' being the most popular. I wonder what happened?

Tonight I gave my first new member tour of the Y. The front desk staff usually does it, obviously. Today they called us and asked us to send someone up for a tour. None of us had any idea how to do a tour so I volunteered and it ended up being really fun! I loved that I was doing it with no training or words to say. She was a cute mom with a baby and a cranky 2 year old. We walked around and I showed her all the rooms and told her about all the programs and the rules and stuff. It was really fun, especially since I winged the whole thing. She did, however, tell me I looked entirely too young to have a fiance. Sad :-(
