your guess is as good as mine

My parents neighbors have a dog that looks just like my moms puppy. Here's TJ, our puppy:
Now, I went home last week, look next door and what do I see? A PINK dog. Yes, they dyed their dog pink. We're not sure how or why, but here's what the poor guy looks like:

It's Christmas-tiiiime in the city

My Christmas was lovely... Pictures are here
My mom and I made a nice dinner for the 4 of us on Christmas eve. We ate steak, used the nice christmas dishes, and drank juice out of wine glasses. My brother is graduating in May and I'm getting married in August, so this might be our last Christmas all together. My mom is very un-fond of that fact so really wanted to make this one special. On Christmas is was just the 4 of us and our grandparents. Quite nice indeed. It was also 70 degrees.

Tonight I had dinner with 7 old friends from high school. 2 of us are engaged and 4 others are seriously involved. One is about to graduate from college. 1 lives in California, 1 in Missouri, and 1 in Ohio. We live such different lives now but yet getting together was wonderful. It wasn't akward at all, we can all share our different lives with each other and it's really great. It was a really wonderful time, even if we did have to wait an hour and a half for a table!

Tomorrow night ends a long 9 days without my love. I can't wait to hug him again. In 1 week, I'm off to sunny California! Yay!!

That's why I'm marrying him

We went and looked at reception sites this weekend. Failed miserably.
We looked at 5 of them and 3 didn't have our date. One of the remaining two we just didn't like. The last one costs $6,000. (Food included)
We absolutely love the site, it's beautiful and what we were looking for. They have our date and it's big enough for our group. Problem? They're forcing us to use their caterer for $12/plate. We had dreamed of home-made lasagna for our reception (made by the best cook I know), not costly commercial chicken or something. They're also forcing me to have a bar. I do not want a bar at my wedding reception. I don't need drunk uncles or the cost. He told I could serve pop if I wanted. I have to pay for the set up/clean up of the bar, plus 2 bartenders at like $20/hour. It works out to $200 total, for them to serve soda to my guests. I'm pretty unhappy with the ethics of that. Plus, I had hoped to keep the entire wedding around $6000 (might be a dream, but I wanted to try)

After a day of that, we were pretty discouraged and I was on the verge of tears. I can't afford the nice day I've always dreamed of, and desperately want. He noticed the look on my face so pulled over. He put his hand on my leg and talked about why I'm so upset and he basically told me why everything's going to be okay and reminded me that all I really care about is a life-time with him when everything's over. As I was listening to his soft voice, I was flooded with all the reasons why I'm marrying him. I just can't stop falling in love with him, over and over again.

What does that mean?

An ex-boyfriend of mine is getting married on the same day as me, 50 miles away. I'm really creeped out by it

calling all Canadians

Ok I have some funny questions for all ye Canadians out there.....

We're thinking about going to the Canadian Rockies for our honeymoon. Banff, Lake Louise....
For anyone that's done it before- how much should we expect airline tickets to cost? Flying from Denver to there and back. How much will it cost us to stay in that area? Also, we don't need a passport right? It sounds really dumb to me, but he thinks that maybe things have changed.
And lastly, any suggestions for while we're there?

Thanks!!!!!

More funny snowmen

Sunday, December 11, 2005

Yesterday, I got my car stuck in the snow. I don't know how it happened, but I ended up with one side of my car in snow so deep that it wouldn't go anywhere. My knight in shining armor came to my rescue. All we could think to do was dig out the tires with a snow shovel. We made some good headway but it still wasn't working. A man in a big truck drove up, much to our shagrin (did I use that word right?). He laughed at us, told us we were young and to chalk this up as our first experience. He had a cable, so he and my fiance rigged it up somehow to both of our cars because neither of us had hooks (I had a loop thing that's supposed to be used for towing, but the cable also had a loop). It looked good to me, even though I had no idea what they were doing. Did anyone see that video online where they were pulling a car out of the snow and they ripped off his whole front bumper??? I had that image going through my head over and over again.... So, he gets in my car and the man tells me to stay back. I watch as my car is jerked out of the ditch and around the road. Out, at last!!!!! But, not without a good case of whiplash for my knight in shining armor. I spent most of the day massaging it and then at night got to play nurse with the icy hot stuff, trying to nurse him back to health. I guess you can say it was a day of displaying our individual talents and what we have to offer each other.

This morning we lost my engagement ring. Yep, sure did! It wasn't a happy experience. Found it, though, and it's all safe and sound on my finger (not leaving the safety of my hand anytime soon!)

EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

On Friday night at about 11:30 pm, Tony asked me to be his wife. EEEEE!!!!!!!!!

The place we had our first kiss is this place that no one knows about. It's up above the city and incredibly beautiful. You can see the city lights and there's usually a ton of stars. Plus it's always quiet and we always have the place to ourselves. After the hockey game we talked about getting pie for dessert. There is a Denny's by the arena, but we decided to go home first to say goodbye to my roommate's fiance. He said he wanted to take his car to go get pie after that because he had to get gas. There was a Villiage Inn by the gas station and he didn't turn into it so I asked why. He told me he doesn't like VI and wanted Denny's. We passed 2 Denny's that he didn't stop at and he made some excuse about that. We got down to the one that was by the arena and he told me we had a stop to make first. I knew where we were going, but I figured it was just to sight-see like usual. This time we could see the Christmas lights of the city, so I was taking pictures of it. (They didn't come out). He said he needed to grab something from his car so I turned around and he got down on one knee.
I don't remember everything he said but I do remember "Do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me", and "Will you marry me". I don't, however, remember saying yes. I think I did, but I don't remember it. I also remember him saying that he couldn't hold on to the ring anymore, so I told him I would take it ;)
Lots of big hugs, and engagement kisses later, we went back down to town and for pie finally!!!! We ended up at Villiage Inn after all ;)

EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm excited, can you tell?? :)

We don't have a date yet, but thinking August.

Go DU!

I'm about to head out to start the weekend.... I'm quite excited for it! A couple of weeks ago I surprised my love with golden tickets: CC vs. DU (one of the biggest college hockey games of the year, the tickets sell out the day they go on sale). I've had the tickets since september, but he didn't know about it until just recently. He's a DU hockey alumni, but I've never been to a DU game, so it should be really fun and hopefully not too shocking!

Saturday we're going to another parade of lights, with our parents (hopefully!) but for sure my parents. Sunday I get to see my friend that was in Italy for 3 months. Yay!!!

Anyways, GO DU!!!!! And I'll probably be back on monday!

*EDIT* Victory!! We WON 4-2! that's right baby! They thought we were a sure victory- nope! It's just a little bit more fun to beat them on their home ice ;)

Going straight

I straigtened my hair the other day. I got compliments like crazy, from all over the place. Why doesn't anyone appreciate the natural anymore? I quite enjoy my curly hair but it doesn't seem that anyone else does. Why is that?
