snowshoeing

This weekend, friends from Seattle came to visit us. We took them to the mountains figuring it would be the best place for them to experience Colorado. Was it ever!! There were 4 feet of snow waiting for us... the whole weekend we were just in awe of the beauty surrounding us. The first night we went on a walk/ hike in warm gear and tennis shoes. It was so fun! We were knee deep at best and at one point, chest deep. Sounds scary, but it was oh so fun. Even when I tried to pull Tony down with me and ended up with a face full of snow instead. The second day we went snowshoeing. Our experienced friends told us the shoes would keep our ankles above the snow. Not so true in 4 feet of powder! We were still calf deep. We hiked a mountain in them and it was probably the coolest thing I have ever done. Definetly the most beautiful thing I've ever done. I thought beaches were as pretty as it got, but I was shown different today.
