bums

S= a guy I work with

S: upon getting up from sitting with the kids "ugh... I need to grow a butt"
me: "Did you just say you need to grow a butt?"
S: "Yes, because then maybe it wouldn't hurt so much..."

Does anyone else find this amusing?

blah

I just finished a 12 hour day... bleh. I've been hungry for almost all of the 12 hour day! No matter how much I eat, I can't stop being hungry.

While I was in california, I missed a staff meeting at work. I didn't even know there was going to be one. Since I've been back I keep hearing and hearing about things that are new now. We have to fill out a form when we change a diaper, we have to get special permission to have a sub for a shift, we have to fill out a 'vacation request' when being gone for 3 shifts, and now I find out that we can't eat at work! No food what-so-ever and no drinks but water. "Take a 5 minute break if you're that hungry". That makes me quite sad! It's really hard to have enough staff to take a break and when you work 8 hours, you need more than 5 minutes to wolf down a lunch! And I can't bring Starbucks to work anymore! Agh... so unhappy :(

Love

We received Dr. Walt's manuscript of his book the other day, and read the first chapter. There was one part that I really loved. For a few sentences they discussed that feeling that you have when you're in love. The moments that you gaze into each other's eyes, the time spent just breathing in their essence, and just that crazy giddy 'love' feeling that you feel like you're going to explode because you're so full of it. They made me aware of feeling that feeling is experiencing God... the essence and the author of love itself. I've had a whole new outlook on love ever sense.

malicious

today as I was waiting for the shuttle, 3 boys walked by with their high and mighty struts and looks on their faces that showed their egos to the max. I was contemplating them when all of the sudden one of them slipped on the sand and fell. Is it wrong of me to think that was perfectly ironic and absolutely hilarious?

Brrrr

I'm dissapointed to be home. It's so cold here!

Ok, now on to the positives. My trip was INCREDIBLE. I think I quite possibly just enjoyed one of the best 3 weeks of my life. Maybe the best ever.
I've never spent a successive 3 weeks with Tony and I now know that I enjoy it, quite alot. This road trip together taught us that we can spend 3 weeks non-stop with each other, drive across the country, and never be out of each others hair and still be very happy and very in love.

The day we left, we drove through western Colorado where there was 2 feet of snow, beauty of creation Arizona, dead Nevada, and then Vegas- where I'm pretty sure Satan feasts daily. It's a very exciting town but so full of sin and lust. It was there that I ate my first In-n-out burger. The place was packed and I didn't really enjoy my first experience after all the hype it gets. We ate it twice more though and I enjoyed it more and more. After leaving Vegas we drove on to Los Angeles. It was between a 7 and 8 hour trip, not too bad. The first night was the Kings game. Soo fun!!! We were 3rd row off the glass, just to the left of the goal. We won 4-0 and all 4 goals were scored on our end. I'm glad I get to look forward to a life-time of games, it was so fun. We spent 5 more days there. We went to the beach everyday, at sunset. I am in love. (With beach sunsets, that is). It never got boring, it was absolutely incredible. We spent time with the guy that is now his best man. Best friend from high school. He's a wonderful guy, really funny and really genuine. After spending time with him, I see a lot of where Tony gets things. Like sometimes he starts talking weird and now I realize that that's how he and this guy talk together and always have. We also got to spend a day with his sister and her boyfriend. We had lunch with his cousin, aunt, and grandma. We got to tour Beverly Hills, The Hollywood walk of fame, and the Hollywood hills. We saw the stars houses but we didn't know who lives in them. We ate at all his favorite restaurants. I saw his high school and where he grew up. We also got to see a good friend of mine from middle school through high school that lives there now. Her campus is astounding. I also got to meet her boyfriend which was really good. When it came time to leave (sad face), we drove on to the other side of Arizona. It was a 7 hour trip to a friend of mines house. I've for years called him my big brother and haven't seen him in waaayyy too long. He got married almost 2 years ago and I hadn't met his wife yet. They had a baby who's 11 months old now, who's named after me (Kalyn Emily). It was such a great time there, getting to know him again and getting to know his wife. She's adorable and giggly, which I love. The baby is soo wonderful.. I almost took her home with me. She's so gorgeous, and has the best personality. She's verry happy, quiet, and so full of life. She's a really smart girl and loves books. Granted, her love of books consists of throwing them around, eating them, and turning pages backwards, but she almost always has a book in her hands. We got along really well and I can't wait till she's old enough to realize she was named after me :) The next day we left there and drove 18 hours straight to get home to my parents house. We left at 6 am and pulled up to the house at midnight. We had planned to leave the day before and stay the night in the middle but we enjoyed our time in az so much we decided it was worth the sacrifice. That boy is a beast, I'm telling you. He woke up at 5 am and drove the whole way, no problems, no tired-ness. I got bored and wanted to drive, but he said he was on a mission and wanted to be able to say he did the whole 18 hours (I will never understand man egos).

So that's it, we're home now and very cold. Our whole trip was in the high 70's-80's and I think it's probably 30 here today. I spent my week in shorts and capri's and came home to find that a t-shirt and jeans doesn't cut it.

We were told before we left that this trip would be a great test of our engagement and whether or not we should really get married, and what married life would be like. We've found that we're quite content with our married life being like this trip was. I've never enjoyed someone's company quite as much, or enjoyed 18 hours in a car with ANYONE. I'm pleased to say we got along just fine and it was a very rewarding test.

Great is Thy faithfulness

Tony got the greatest advice today. The program director came n the ktchen today and told him- "heres the best marrage advce I can gve you: If she's upset- you're wrong. You don't have to understand t and t doesn't have to make sense, but f she's upset- you're wrong, that's t."

I've had such a great tme here. The guests are all really wonderful people. I met and worked wth a fabulous man that actually turns out to be a doctor and author. He's written 15 books. Some medcal thngs, but mostly Christian livng books. He's got a new one ready to go to the publsher n February written for engaged couples and newlyweds. Isn't t crazy how God works lke that? He's sendng us a copy of the manuscrpt so we can read t early and preview it for him. I'm so excted to read t, he's such a wonderful person and t feels lke an honor to be readng t early. I view him as a frend rather than the establshed man that he is and that's just the knd of person he is. After we met him for the frst tme and sat down and talked to hm for a few mnutes, we went home and Tony had a book lying on hs table that his boss gave hm for Chrstmas. He was pondering the mans name and all the sudden we looked down and there t was! That's how we discovered who he is.
So, other than cranky cooks (not mne, the other one) and havng no lghts n my room, I've had a really great, enlightenng, blessed tme here.

Now, after a week of workng long hours, we're off to Calforna!!!! (and we'll be rid of pesky I keys! Just so you know, every tme there's a mssng I, I actually typed t but t ddn't come out and 'm tred of fghtng wth t :) )

Thursday night brngs a Kngs came, in LA! He's so excited and for that reason, 'm also excted. I get to step into his world and be apart of somethng he loves. And besdes that, we have 5th row tckets! Rght behnd the glass!! woohoo!!

I must go commense cookng up a storm, break tme is over!
