sick- again
I have been stricken with pneumonia. I also have to idea if I spelled it right.
Sunday night my fever reached 103.5 so I called my mother-in-law to take me to the hospital (I was all alone and my mom lives 2 hours away). When we got to the emergency room, I walked in with Tony's 91 year old grandma but they knew right away that I was the patient, if that alludes you at all to the way I looked. Normally in an ER, you fill out the paper work and wait in a waiting room and maybe an hour later they will call you in. Not this time! They took my vitals while I was filling out the paperwork and whisked me right back to a room. I layed down and they immediately hooked me up to an IV and gave me lots of motrin. They also hooked me up to a heart monitor. I guess a 103 fever is nothing to mess with! They said my heart rate was way too high so I had an EKG, and then like an hour later had a chest x-ray. I asked for my mom-in-law to come back with me twice and she never came. Finally a boy came in just to see what he could get me so I asked for her again and he accomplished it. It was SO scary and lonely being there by myself! It got better though when I finally had company. After the chest x-ray they came back and told me I had pnemonia. They waited a long time for my heart rate to go down and it never did so around 1 am the doctor decided to do a cat scan to see if something was going on. At 1:30 I went in for that and when I came back my husband was finally there- that made me smile. At 2 the nurse came in and said that she was going to get the results and she would be right back. Tony fell asleep in the chair, but the only thing he missed was me getting a 3rd bag of fluid hooked up. They also gave me apple juice to drink but I threw it up :P. At 4, Tony got a little angry that we hadn't seen anyone for 2 hours so he went to the front desk to ask what was going on. The lady said she would talk to my doctor. Then at 4:30 a completely new lady came in and handed me my perscription and unhooked everything. I asked her about the results and she said "oh, your doctor didn't talk to you?" NO! he didn't! She explained my meds and gave me some cough syrup and told me where the exit was. So that was that- we left without hearing anything at all from my doctor or nurse! I came home and took 2 doses of cough syrup with codein (a couple hours apart) and only slept about 4 hours. Most worthless cough syrup I've ever had! The rest of the day yesterday I spent either sleeping or miserable and in tears. I honestly felt like I belonged in the hospital, hopped up on drugs. This is definetly the sickest I've ever been and it's really really crappy. Coughing has given my stomach muscles the worst work out and everytime I do it hurst my head more so by the time a few hours have passed, I have a splitting headache. It's awful and I don't wish it on anyone!!!
